Surprise for Tony Pulis ahead of Stoke training

Special presentation to ‘1,000 club’ gaffer

ALBION served up one final surprise to the League Managers Association's latest hall of fame entrant in the build up to the Premier League visit to Stoke City.

Baggies head coach Tony Pulis will become the 25th manager to take charge of 1,000 first team games when the Midlands derby gets underway at the bet365 Stadium.

That makes him a member of a special group of gaffers and ensures he will be the subject of a special LMA tribute dinner at the end of the season when he will inducted into their hall of fame.

An Albion could not let the moment pass without a suitable presentation – an inscribed Ships-Decanter cut from the finest local Stourbridge glass.

Skipper Darren Fletcher and Chief Executive Mark Jenkins surprised Pulis with the presentation just before he took Friday’s final training session in readiness for the Stoke game.

And Fletcher confirms that his boss shows no sign of slowing down: “The first thing you hear on the training pitch every day is his big, booming voice and he is there to get everyone going.

“This is an incredible achievement.”
