Shan previews PL2 clash with Stoke

Baggies full of confidence after derby triumph

JAMES Shan thinks Albion’s 5-2 victory against Aston Villa in the Premier League 2 will be a confidence boost as they prepare to face Stoke City at the Hawthorns on Monday evening (ko 7pm).

The Baggies boss was impressed with how his side controlled the game at the Banks’s Stadium and wants the same level of performance against the Potters.

“It was nice to dominate the game against Villa. To score five goals was a bonus, too.

“We train with the ball day in day out and it can be frustrating if you come to match day and don’t have as much possession as you’d like.

“We saw a lot of the ball in the derby and moved it around nicely. We’ll take that confidence into the game on Monday evening.”

The Baggies youngsters will be able to take some inspiration from the First Team, who earned a resilient point at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

And with his side looking for their third straight victory, Shan expects the clash with Stoke to be an equally tough test.

“We’ve watched Stoke a couple of times. They make the pitch very big and like to keep the ball. The players understand their shape and the way they play.

“I’m expecting a good game of football, but we’ve got to try and stop them from playing and control the game like we did last week.

Entry is free for season ticket holders, otherwise prices are £5 adults and £1 concessions.

Come on you Baggies!
