Host of Baggies involved in World Cup qualifiers

A total of 11 senior Albion players have been called up by their nations for the latest batch of international fixtures.

Midfield duo Darren Fletcher and James Morrison are in the Scotland squad for their titanic tussle with England in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley on Friday, November 11 (ko 7.45pm).

The Baggies pair are in need of a positive result against the Three Lions with their national side sitting fourth in Group F, three points off top spot, which is currently held by Gareth Southgate’s men.

Trio Jonny Evans, Gareth McAuley and Chris Brunt have been called up by Northern Ireland for home matches against Azerbaijan in World Cup qualifying, as well as Croatia in a friendly.

The Group C clash against Azerbaijan at Windsor Park on Friday, November 11 (ko 7.45pm) gives Michael O’Neill’s side the opportunity to leapfrog their opponents into second in Group C, before being able to test themselves against one of Europe’s best teams, Croatia, in a practice match at the same venue on Tuesday, November 15 (ko 7.45pm).
