Foundation celebrates silver anniversary

Welcome to Albion Foundation week

WELCOME to a special week with West Bromwich Albion – the 25th anniversary of The Albion Foundation.

The Baggies are thrilled to see the Club’s charitable arm grow to become a vital and inspiring service in our local community and beyond.

And we will be leading from the front in helping the Foundation mark its silver anniversary culminating in a special salute at this weekend’s Barclays Premier League clash against Norwich City at The Hawthorns.

The Albion Foundation lives up to its motto of 'Inspire to Achieve' by making a difference and raising aspirations to the most deprived and needy in the local community through their 3 key areas of work, alternative education, sport for all and disability.

Foundation Director Rob Lake says: “I am immensely proud of the work we do and the amazing staff we have at the Foundation.

“It is humbling to see the way they engage with the young people and make a real difference. It is great to celebrate our 25th year, which has seen the Foundation grow to now having 50 full time staff, 80 part time and more than 100 volunteers.

“We are committed to becoming the best Foundation deliver of sport, school intervention and disability activities in the country.”

To help celebrate this notable week, legendary striker Super Bob Taylor will join Blind Dave Heeley, club director Adrian Wright and a host of volunteers who will cycle from Norwich to The Hawthorns to raise money and awareness or the Foundation.

They are due to arrive at the Fanzone a couple of hours before kick-off against Norwich where we know Baggies fans will give them a warm welcome.

There will be a half-time salute to the Foundation with ALL the staff taking a well-deserved lap of honour to say their own ‘thank you’ to The Hawthorns fans for their support.

We also urge Baggies fans to look out for Foundation staff with anniversary wristbands while supporters in hospitality can buy raffle tickets for the prize taking a place in the official Albion team photo.

You can text donate and win 2 season tickets and we will be auctioning the special edition 'Foundation 25 Years' players match-worn shirts and other player memorabilia.

To donate, please visit here or, for example, text 'WBAF25 £3' to 70070 to donate £3.00. For more details about the Foundation, visit http://thealbionfoundation.co.uk/
