Rondon determined to beat 2015/16 goals tally

Venezuelan returns to Albion in confident mood

SALOMON Rondon is heading into the new campaign with a determination to better his goals tally from the 2015/16 season.

Albion’s record signing scored ten times in all competitions during his first year in England after arriving from Zenit in August.

Two of those strikes were in the final two games of the Premier League season as the Baggies recorded 1-1 draws with Bournemouth and Liverpool but the goals didn’t stop there for the Venezuelan forward.

Rondon went on to find the back of the net four times for his nation over the summer, scoring in friendlies against Costa Rica and Guatemala, before notching in games against Uruguay and Argentina at the Copa America which was held in the USA.

The Club’s new number nine has returned fit and well for pre-season training in Austria and is in confident mood ahead of the start of the Premier League.

“I am fit and well and ready for the new season,” said Rondon.

“I feel very good, confident and happy.

“The Copa America was very good for me and my national team.

“We played very well but unfortunately we were eliminated by Argentina in the quarter-finals.

“I scored goals for Albion and also for Venezuela at the end of last season so I am coming into the new season with lots of confidence.

“It’s very important for me to score goals and I hope to score more this year than I did last year.

“This pre-season is very important for us and we have to make sure we are physically prepared for the new season.”
