Do you remember the Len Cantello testimonial?

BBC documentary is looking for eye witness accounts

BACK in May 1979, Len Cantello enjoyed his Albion testimonial at The Hawthorns, but it was a game with a difference.

In the days when black footballers were starting to break into English sides up and down the land, Albion led the way with the trinity of Cyrille Regis, Laurie Cunningham and Brendon Batson.

So for Len’s testimonial, the Albion took on a Cyrille Regis XI, comprising all black players from up and down the country.

From this distance, it seems unthinkable that that could happen, so much so that Albion fan Adrian Chiles is making a documentary for the BBC about what that game tells us about football – and society – now and then.

Adrian wants your help. If you were at the game as a fan, an Albion employee, a journalist, or in any other capacity, he wants to hear from you.
