Two games remain as title wrapped up
SPORTING Club Albion have clinched the FA National Blind Football League title with two games to spare.
After losing just one game in the first months of the season, defending champions Merseyside put Albion under increasing pressure throughout the season as the league turned into a two horse race for the title.
Former GB Paralympic Footballer Darren Harris has once again topped the scoring charts after retiring from international football this season. His experience was vital in several close games.
A number of the team also gained international recognition, with call ups to the England side. Robin Williams, goalkeeper Dylan Malpas and Mo Ahmed have all played for the national side this year.
"It’s been a fantastic achievement to claim the title again and testament to the players have they have responded exactly how we have asked in games and committed themselves 100 per cent in each and every game we have played," said Adam Crowle, Disability Development Officer.
"We now look forward to competing in the FA Peoples Cup Final on May 7 at St Georges Park, so we ask as many West Bromwich Albion fans as possible to come and cheer on the boys."
