Scrivens nets late winner for Under-18s against Derby

Evan Pierce opened the scoring

CHAY Scrivens proved to be Albion’s hero on Saturday as he scored an 87th minute winner against Derby, securing a 2-1 scoreline in the Barclays U18 Premier League.

Frontman Evan Pierce gave the Baggies the lead in the 62nd minute, tapping the ball home from inside the six-yard box.

It looked as though Derby had grabbed themselves a share of the spoils when they equalised with just seven minutes to go, but Albion and Scrivens had other ideas.

The pacey winger made a darting run through the centre and calmly slotted the ball beyond the ‘keeper after connecting with Nick Phillips’ teasing cross from the left, in the process sealing a welcome three points for his side.

ALBION: House, Wilson, Piggott, Artymatas, Melbourne (Morrison 85), Meredith, Smith, Dool, Scrivens, Forss, Pierce (Phillips 75).

Unused subs: Pryzbek, Wilding, Harper.
