Shan’s side remain unbeaten this season
ALBION’S Under-21 side will be looking to replicate the recent derby success of their senior counterparts, when they travel to the Banks’s Stadium to face Villa on Monday night (ko 7pm).
The youngsters are unbeaten in ten Barclays U21 Premier League matches, a run which stretches back to late March.
The Baggies have been held to back-to-back draws in their last two matches against Wolves and Derby, having previously won their opening three games of the new campaign.
Under-21 boss James Shan is keen for his group to get back to winning ways, but is expecting Villa to provide a stern test.
He said: “We have made a good start this season and we are delighted to still be unbeaten.
“Saying that, in our last two games against Wolves and Derby we have probably only performed well for 90 minutes.
“We had a half in each game where we did well, but I wasn’t too happy with the performances in the other halves.
“Villa are a good side with some very exciting individual players and as a group they work very hard.
“I’ve been to watch them a few times this season and I have a lot of respect for their coach Kevin MacDonald.
“He’s done a fantastic job there and has brought through plenty of players from the academy into the senior side.
“His side will reflect his style of play and I would expect them to try and move the ball quickly.
“But, if we can up our performance and be more clinical in the final third, I’m confident the boys will collect three points.”
