Under-21s held to stalemate by Wolves

13 September 2015

Unbeaten start to the season continues

ALBION’s Under-21 side played out a goalless draw with local rivals Wolves at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

Shaun Donnellan had the Baggies’ best chance of the match in the first-half, but the defender failed to hit the target from inside the penalty area.

At the other end, Jack Rose produced two important saves to keep out the hosts.

The stalemate ensures Albion’s unbeaten start to the season continues.

Speaking after the game, Under-21 boss James Shan admitted he was pleased with the point.

He said: “It’s a good point for us and we are happy to have kept back-to-back clean sheets as well as continuing our unbeaten start.

“We were very good in the opening 30 minutes and caused Wolves problems with our shape and ability to retain possession.

“We just lacked that cutting edge in the final third, but in spells we produced some of our best football of the season so far.

“The game was a little bit stretched in the second-half and they picked up momentum.

“It was great to have both Kyle Howkins and George Cleet back on the pitch after injuries.”

ALBION: Rose, Ezewele, Howkins (Barbir 80), Donnellan, McCourt, Cleet (Leko 55), S.Nabi, Ward, Roberts (Smith 75), Edwards, Elbouzedi.

Unused Sub: Ross.
