Rondon pounces in injury-time to seal Venezuela draw

Salomon Rondon rescued Venezuela with a 93rd minute equaliser against Panama, as the two sides played out a dramatic 1-1 friendly draw in Puerto Ordaz.

Rolando Blackburn gave the visitors the lead after just two minutes, and that lead looked safe when Venezuela defender Francisco Carabali was shown a straight red in the 90th minute.

But Albion’s record-signing then popped up at the back post to smash home after a scramble inside the six-yard box to salvage a draw.

Panama’s misery was compounded in the 94th minute when ‘keeper Luis Mejia was dismissed after picking up a second yellow.

Cristian Gamboa completed 57 minutes as Costa Rica scrapped a narrow 1-0 victory over Uruguay in a friendly played in San Jose.

The Baggies man was replaced shortly before the hour-mark by David Myrie.

Bryan Ruiz’s header in the ninth minute was enough to end Costa Rica’s 10-match winless streak.

Serge Gnabry was an unused substitute in Germany Under-21’s 3-0 win over Azerbaijan Under-21s in Euro U21 qualifying.

Two Davie Selke strikes as well as a Joshua Kimmich penalty sandwiched in between were enough to give Germany a comfortable victory.
