Berahino bounced back with winner against Villa
HEAD Coach Tony Pulis has saluted the special breed of Albion fans for helping Saido Berahino re-integration at The Hawthorns.
The 22-year-old striker scored the match winner at Villa Park last week in his first start since a turbulent transfer window during August during which Spurs made four offers for the Baggies home-grown star.
Pulis acknowledges that many Albion fans were angered by the way last season’s top goalscorer handled the unsettling period but there was no evidence of any lingering resentment from either side last Saturday as they celebrated the 1-0 derby victory.
Pulis jokingly referred to the forward as the club’s 'naughty child' and thanked the fans for the manner in which they have responded to the episode.
“The supporters have been wonderful,” he said. “They’ve been very good and very supportive and the great thing for me is the Saido situation.
“I think Saido was concerned there might be a little turning of the tide but they were absolutely wonderful when he came on against Southampton and last Saturday against Villa.
“They truly are in love with their football club and they want their football club to do well and Saido is a big part of that now.
“They have embraced him and brought him back into the fold - that naughty child!”
