Foster and Chiles to head Fanzone ceremony

9 September 2015

Fanzone opens on Saturday before Saints clash

BEN Foster and Adrian Chiles will head the opening ceremony of the Fanzone at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

The Club is getting ready to take the wraps off its latest supporter initiative around midday before the Barclays Premier League clash against Southampton.

Live music – and tomorrow we will be telling you who has been hard at work preparing that part of the entertainment – a giant TV screen, inflatable pitches, face-paints and bunting will light up a once derelict part of The Hawthorns area.

And broadcaster and Baggies devotee Chiles is thrilled to see the famous old Hawthorns Pub area back in use.

“I used to drink in there and then drive past it years later thinking what a fantastic property – this is a great use of that area and I’m really looking forward to seeing it,” said Chiles.

“It is the perfect setting for a ‘Fanzone’. The whole area around the stadium should be part of the match day experience and hopefully this is the first step in that direction.”

Baggies favourite “Fozzie” will be breaking off from his recovery from injury to join Chiles on stage to join the opening ceremony.

Supporters can access the Fanzone from midday providing they have a match ticket.

The Hawthorns pub has been renovated by the Club and will become a new outlet for Greggs, the High Street bakery. They have begun their own interior re-fit and intend to have the shop up and running for the home match against Sunderland.
