Under-21s aim to go five points clear at the top

26 October 2015

Battle of the Albions at Tamworth’s Lamb Ground

VICTORY over Brighton on Monday night (ko 7pm) will see Albion’s Under-21 side stretch their lead to five points at the top of the Barclays U21 Premier League division two table.

The Baggies head into the encounter at The Lamb off the back of a 2-0 success over Stoke last week, in the process extending their unbeaten league run to 12 games.

In contrast, the Seagulls currently sit bottom of the league having won one and lost five of their six games.

Under-21 boss James Shan knows how important three points would be with a trip to second-placed Arsenal coming up on Friday, but also insists his players are determined to put in a good performance.

“The boys are really focused on putting in a good performance against Brighton on Monday night,” said Shan.

“We managed to beat Stoke in the last game but a few of the players came off the pitch really disappointed with their performances.

“There is a big incentive for them against Brighton, they know that if they win they can go five points clear of Arsenal before our game with them on Friday.

“They are really confident at the moment, the unbeaten run that they are on is terrific and something which as a group we are all very proud of.

“Hopefully we can extend that run to 13 games and to open up a nice little gap over the chasing pack would be great, especially when you consider only one team will be automatically promoted from division two this year.”

Admission is free for both West Bromwich Albion and Tamworth season ticket holders, otherwise seats are priced at £5 adults and £1 concessions.

Come on you Baggies!
