Up for the Cup
DECEMBER 3, 1969 (Albion 4 Carlisle United 1)
The Baggies had overturned Carlisle’s 1-0 lead from the first leg of the League Cup semi-final, thumping them 4-1 at The Hawthorns with goals from Bobby Hope, Colin Suggett, Tony Brown and Martin taking us to our fourth cup final in five years.
Albion skipper Dougie Fraser and left-back Ray Wilson look suitably drained by the experience, though if there wasn’t a measure or two of vodka in the bottle that Dougie’s necking from, then I’ll be very disappointed.
