Teenagers prepare for Hawthorns' Press Pass project

14 October 2015

Albion Foundation and Media Team join forces

TWO more youngsters are looking forward to the Premier League media experience on Saturday thanks to our Press Pass project.

Albion’s Hawthorns’ clash against Sunderland in the Barclays Premier League will see the regular 100-strong media army supplemented by Sandwell Academy School duo Finlay Mascall and Yasmin Bavington.

The two 14-year-olds will get a ringside view of the big game as well as the match day interviews with the managers and players which millions of fans see and read about after the game.

Finlay and Yasmin are the latest beneficiaries of an initiative designed to create an opportunity for young, talented writers to try their hand reporting on our Premier League fixtures.

The Albion Foundation and the Club’s Media team are working together to provide this unique experience which combines enjoyment against the backdrop of a real-life experience in a fast-paced professional environment.

How can you apply to join the fun?

Two Key Stage 4 able writers are selected by their school to participate.  They then receive a briefing by The Albion Foundation’s Education and Inclusion Manager which includes tips regarding research, preparation, structure and style.

On match day they join the professionals in Albion’s Media Suite and report on the game from the Press Balcony while covering the post-match interviews.

Follow their progress at @WBAFCofficial and @WBAFoundation.

Post-match, you can view their report at www.wba.co.uk.
