Pair have become close friends off the pitch
SALOMON Rondon and Claudio Yacob linked up at the Stadium Megastore on Tuesday afternoon to meet Albion fans seeking a selfie and a signature.
Seeing the South American pair together alongside fellow Spanish speaker, Cristian Gamboa, has become a regular sight at the Baggies’ training ground.
The trio have become close friends off the pitch, with the Argentinian playing a key role in helping the record signing settle into life in England.
The Venezuela international may have only played a handful of games for Albion since arriving in summer from Zenit, but he has been quick to spot just how crucial Claudio is to the team.
“Claudio is a very good man and superb player,” said Rondon.
“He is very important for Albion, he has been at the Club for a long time and he is a key player.
“Claudio is very solid in the middle and he always performs well.
“He is difficult to play against and not many things get past him.
“My job as an attacker is to score goals but I am happy to have Claudio in my team to stop other sides scoring, I love playing with him.”
The forward was last Saturday’s hero – heading home the only goal of the game at Carrow Road as Tony Pulis’ side claimed their third 1-0 away victory of the season.
Rondon was understandably delighted to notch his second goal of the season for his new Club.
He said: “Obviously I was very happy to score against Norwich on Saturday.
“It was a big goal for us and we managed to get an important three points.”
