Salomon Rondon struck with a classic header to sink Norwich City and give improving Albion consecutive Barclays Premier League victories.
It was Albion’s fourth 1-0 win of the season but it was a contest Tony Pulis’ men should have won by a bigger margin.
A first half of end-to-end action saw the visitors create the better opportunities with Craig Dawson and Rondon just short of taking advantage of well-worked chances and Chris Brunt bringing the best out of John Ruddy twice.
Ruddy palmed away two left-footers and pulled off an even better save from Brunt’s right foot after the break.
But it was a beautifully-worked winner 56 seconds into the second half which proved the difference.
James McClean, who was outstanding again, linked with Saido Berahino to deliver a perfect cross which Rondon rose to clinically put away.
Albion’s defending was once more top-notch bringing the team their sixth clean sheet of the season from the first 10 games.
