Liverpool comeback defeats Baggies’ youngsters

Leko and Edwards gave hosts 2-0 lead

LIVERPOOL completed a second-half comeback to defeat Albion’s Under-18 side 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon in the Barclays U18 Premier League.

The Baggies produced some fantastic football in the first 45 minutes and deservedly went into the break with a two-goal lead.

Jonathan Leko, who had earlier missed a penalty, opened the scoring with a cool finish from inside the penalty area after 25 minutes.

Kyle Edwards then drilled home a second from the edge of the box after playing a superb give-and-go with Tyler Roberts.

The Baggies took their foot off the gas after the interval and Liverpool capitalised, scoring three times to snatch all three points.

ALBION: Hall, Wilson, O’Shea, Fitzwater, McCourt, Field (Sweeney 80), Elbouzedi, Edwards (Smith 75), Leko, Roberts, Scrivens.

Unused subs: Ross, Forss, Melbourne.
