Defender discusses a number of topics
CRAIG Dawson was speaking to Premier League Television at the Baggies’ training ground on Friday morning.
The defender was questioned about a number of topics.
You can read his answers below.
On the victory against Sunderland
It was great to get our first home win of the season last Saturday afternoon.
We have had some really difficult games at The Hawthorns so far, so it was important to get three points for the fans.
It probably wasn’t the best game to watch but it was an important win and it was nice to get another clean sheet.
It was Sam Allardyce’s first game in charge of Sunderland so we knew it was going to be difficult but thankfully we managed to get the victory.
On Albion's start to the season
We have done ok so far but we are always looking to improve.
We would obviously like to be on more points as everyone would be.
There are parts of our game that we need to improve but everyone has been working really hard on the training pitch.
The games that we have coming up now are a good chance to get more points on the board.
On Saido and Salomon
Saido is a great character to have in the dressing room and he is a very important player for us.
He has been working really hard recently and when he is scoring goals he is one of the best.
Salomon has been putting the work in but he hasn’t got the goals that his performances have deserved as of yet.
I think once the goals start going in for him they will continue to come.
On the influence of Jonny Evans
Jonny has bags of experience and he is a great leader.
He has done a great job so far during his short time at the Club and he has fitted in brilliantly with the lads.
On his individual displays this season
I have been quite happy with them but like I have said before, there is always room for improvement.
Overall I have been pretty pleased with my performances so far this year.
I need to make sure I keep improving week-in week-out.
On Saturday’s clash with Norwich at Carrow Road
Carrow Road is a nice ground but their fans are really close to the pitch so it makes playing there quite difficult.
They are a good side and it would be nice to get an early goal to dampen the atmosphere.
It will be a tough match, we know what they will be like having already played there in the Capital One Cup earlier on in the season.
They are a very attacking team and they have lots of pace in wide areas as well as up front, so it will be a difficult test for us defenders.
The have settled really well into the Premier League, as have all of the promoted sides.
On the toughest player at the Club
I would probably say Claudio Yacob.
He is tough in the tackles and takes no nonsense.
He is exactly the same in training too, he gets stuck into his team-mates as well as the opposition so I’d have to go with Claudio.
