Roberts at the double to sink Stoke

22 November 2015

James Smith also on target

TYLER Roberts scored twice as Albion’s Under-18 side recorded a comfortable 3-1 victory over Stoke in the Barclays U18 Premier League on Saturday morning.

It didn’t take the Wales youth international long to break the deadlock – there were less than 30 seconds on the clock when he raced through and chipped the goalkeeper from outside the penalty area.

The Baggies added a second just 12 minutes later when James Smith surged through the heart of the Stoke defence, before poking the ball home from 18-yards.

The visitors pulled one back shortly after, but Roberts restored Albion’s two-goal advantage in first-half injury time.

He collected a sublime defence-splitting pass from Brad Sweeney and slotted the ball into the bottom corner from close range, in the process sealing all three points for Aaron Danks’ men.

ALBION: Hall, Wilson, O'Shea, Barbir, Piggott, Sweeney, R.Nabi, Smith, Dool (Meredith 88), Roberts, Forss (Pierce 81).

Unused subs: Hause, Phillips, Morrison.
