Defender after third straight away win over Red Devils

GARETH McAuley and his Albion team-mates have their sights set on matching a Premier League record at Old Trafford, previously achieved by only one other team – Manchester City.

The Baggies head north in search of a third straight away victory at United, having claimed 2-1 and 1-0 wins in the last two seasons.

The Northern Ireland international, who was speaking to Premier League Productions at the Club’s training ground on Friday morning, believes his side can take great confidence from their successive triumphs.

However McAuley knows just how difficult the task will be on Saturday afternoon, insisting the whole team will need to perform at their maximum if they are to join the blue half of Manchester in the record books.

He said: “Going to Old Trafford is never an easy place to go.

“They are a team full of stars who can do anything at any point in time during a 90 minutes.

“We have to be respectful of that and also be aware of the dangerous players at their disposal.

“Saying that we are really looking forward to the task which awaits us on Saturday afternoon.

“We can take great confidence from the consecutive victories we have had there over the last two seasons.

“They are a fantastic side and we will need to be on top of our game to get anything.

“It would be great to make it three wins from three, but we know we will need to put in a great team performance and have a bit of luck for that to happen.”
