Sporting Club Albion Ladies in Cup Final action

7 May 2015

SCA go in search of first major trophy

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies take on Coventry City Ladies in the County Cup final tonight at Nuneaton Town’s James Parnell Stadium (ko 7.30pm).

The Ladies needed an extra-time winner to overcome Copsewood Coventry in the semi-final, after resounding wins over Rubery LFC (8-0), Kingshurst Sporting Club (6-1) and Continental Stars Women (22-0) in the earlier rounds.

SCA head into the final in good spirits having fought off relegation with two games to spare, but will face a stern test from a Coventry side who are chasing the title.

The squad, who will go in search of their first major trophy on Thursday night, has the youngest average age in the league and manager, Graham Abercrombie, is optimistic for the future.

He said: “Our Ladies have shown tremendous strength of character throughout the season.

“To reach the Cup Final in testament to their battling qualities which they have demonstrated since August.”

Sporting Club Albion Ladies are appealing to all Albion fans to head to Nuneaton and support them in their bid for Cup success.

Tickets will be on sale on the gate at a price of £5 adults and £2 concessions, but if you can’t make it, text commentary is available on the Sporting Club Albion Ladies Twitter page @SCALadies
