Roofe seals Oxford switch

12 May 2015

Winger pens U's deal for undisclosed fee

ALBION Academy product Kemar Roofe has joined Oxford for an undisclosed fee, penning a three-year deal with the League Two club.

The 22-year-old winger, who was on the bench on occasion for Albion without making a competitive appearance for the club, enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at the Kassam Stadium towards the end of this season.

He scored six goals in 12 starts and four substitute appearances, including a run of four goals in the final three games of the season as Oxford enjoyed a strong end to the campaign to finish 13th.

The move to Oxford reunites Roofe with former Albion assistant head coach Michael Appleton, now manager with the U’s. Appleton was previously Roofe’s youth-team coach here at The Hawthorns.

Kemar, who had previous loan spells with Northampton, Cheltenham and Colchester, moves to Oxford with the best wishes of everyone at Albion for a successful future and we thank him for his efforts while he was with the club.
