Albion skipper tipped for touchline role
DARREN Fletcher: influential footballer, a leader...and one day a potential manager.
That's the verdict of Albion head coach Tony Pulis, who has been impressed with the impact made by the Scotland captain since his January arrival.
Fletcher received a hero's welcome at former club Manchester United on Saturday, from ex-players, staff and supporters.
His Albion performance in the 1-0 victory over Manchester United was noted by his gaffer.
Pulis believes Fletcher has the potential to pursue a career long after he hung up his boots.
“He has been the biggest influence in the club since I brought him in. He has just been very, very good," said Pulis.
"On and off the pitch he has been wonderful.
"I just hope and pray that Darren becomes a coach or a manager because he is a top bloke, a really good guy. He is a leader and he has got great standards.
"Obviously he has been brought up by Sir Alex Ferguson so he has got wonderful habits and hopefully we can keep him going for a few years yet before he goes into coaching.
"He does everything right from getting in early, eating properly... he lives his life properly. The younger players have really warmed to him. He is a fantastic lad.”
