The football season may be over . . . but the awards season has just begun.
In the closing weeks of the campaign we asked our social media followers to nominate their Player of the Season and their Goal of the Season.
While that was going on, we were busy canvassing the views inside the camp for the players’ own nominations.
All the votes have been cast and counted - and this week we will be revealing the winners.
That starts today as the curtains come back on the Young Player of the Year and Academy Player of the Year as selected by the coaches who know them best.
After that we will be revealing your choice for that goal and player of the season before rounding off the week by unmasking the man chosen as the Players’ Player of the Season.
As for today’s awards . . . step forward striker Adil Nabi who has been named Young Player of the Season after a consistent goal-scoring campaign which took him to the brink of a first team call.
The club have taken up their option on the 21-year-old who will return for training next season determined to prove to Tony Pulis that he is ready for the responsibility of a senior berth.
And well done to rising 17-year-old defender, Jack Fitzwater, who was selected by his peers as the Academy Player of the Year.
Jack is another of the 18s group to have revelled in playing Under 21 football as more senior figures such as Liam O’Neil and Donervorn Daniels have gone out on loan.
It’s the shape of things to come for the Academy’s most senior team and Jack – who has also trained regularly with the first team - tells the Albion fans: “I’m delighted with the award and I owe a lot to all the coaches who have put so much effort into developing me.”
