Youngsters aiming to extend impressive unbeaten league run
SEBASTIEN Pocognoli, Cristian Gamboa and Jason Davidson are set to feature for Albion’s Under-21s against Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns tonight (ko 7pm).
The trio, who have had limited playing time in recent weeks, will join up with James Shan’s squad as they look to extend their impressive unbeaten league run to ten games.
A win for third-placed Baggies would see them leapfrog their opponents on goal difference into top spot in the Barclays U21 Premier League Division Two table.
Albion suffered a 2-0 reverse against Boro earlier in the campaign, and Shan admits his side are keen to make amends.
He said: “We didn’t turn up against Middlesbrough at their place, it was disappointing.
“We allowed a very well organised team to dominate us, so tomorrow will be a good test.
“They are top of the league and you don’t become league leaders unless you are a decent side so I am anticipating a good game.
“The soul objective is to put right the disappointing encounter we had with them in September.
The Under-21 boss added: “Every game is a big game as it gives our players the chance to showcase their ability and development.
“The lads are enjoying winning games and they have a habit at the minute of being difficult to beat.
“Training is very much the same at the moment, they are a wonderful and competitive bunch who want to do well for both themselves and each other.”
Admission is £5 adults and £1 concessions. Entry is free for Albion home season ticket holders.
