Match action from The Hawthorns
SAIDO Berahino’s 17th goal of the season secured an impressive 1-0 victory for Albion over Barclays Premier League high-fliers Southampton.
The England striker bagged the only goal of the game in just the second minute, lashing home a superb half-volley into the top corner from the edge of the area.
Berahino’s goal sealed the points but Albion will rightly take just as many plaudits for their united defensive strength, which saw them keep yet another clean sheet – their fourth in a row in all competitions.
It proved to be their 11th league shut out of the season – bettered only by Saints and leaders Chelsea – and seventh in ten games under Tony Pulis, who has still tasted just one defeat since taking charge.
