Baggies handed home opener for fifth successive season
ALBION will open the 2015/16 Barclays Premier League season at The Hawthorns with a home clash against Manchester City.
The Baggies are due to entertain last season’s runners-up on Saturday, August 8 - although all fixture dates and kick-off times are subject to change.
It represents the fifth successive season Albion have started the season on home soil and sixth time in seven years, with the 2010/11 trip to Chelsea the sole exception.
In the first five fixtures of 2015/16, Tony Pulis’ side follow up City’s visit with a trip to newly-promoted Watford, a home clash against reigning champions Chelsea, a short journey to Stoke City and the visit of Southampton.
Aston Villa are up next on September 19 at Villa Park, with the return home fixture against our local neighbours currently scheduled for January 23.
In fact, the Throstles face a homely festive period with three of four fixtures at The Hawthorns, although there is the small matter of a Boxing Day trip to Wales to face Swansea City. Stoke are the visitors on January 2.
Albion are also entertaining on the final day of the season as Liverpool arrive to bring the curtain down on 2015/16 on May 15.
Baggies fans can look forward to a sunny trip to the south coast the week previous, with AFC Bournemouth the final away game of the season.
West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Watford and Manchester City complete Albion’s final six fixtures in reverse order.
In all, Albion face three of their opening five fixtures, three of their final five fixtures and three of their four festive fixtures all at The Hawthorns.
