Albion men on summer duty
ALBION might be in the grips of the off-season but there is no rest for our international contingent during the summer.
A number of our first-team players and youngsters are involved in key matches during the coming period.
Saido Berahino will spearhead England's assault on the England Under-21 European Championships in the Czech Republic.
Gareth Southgate's men play a friendly against Belarus on June 11, before taking on Portugal (June 18), Sweden (June 21) and Italy (June 24) in their Group B games of the tournament. Should England progress from that group (they need to finish in the top two) they would have a semi-final on June 27. The final is due to be played in Prague on June 30.
Meanwhile, north of the border Darren Fletcher and James Morrison are preparing for an international against Qatar at Easter Road (tomorrow, 7.45pm kick-off) before travelling to Dublin for a huge Euro 2016 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland (June 13).
Elsewhere, duo Chris Brunt and Gareth McAuley are preparing for Northern Ireland's top of the table Group F qualifier against Romania (June 13). A win at Windsor Park would give Michael O'Neill's side a huge push towards qualification for their first major championships since 1986. Chris Baird, who is due to leave Albion this summer, is also involved in those fixtures.
Jonas Olsson is also on duty. Sweden visit Oslo for a friendly against Norway (June 8), before hosting Montenegro in Euro 2016 qualifier on June 14.
Sebastien Pocognoli is on the standby list for Belgium's games against France (June 7) and Wales (June 12).
One of our youngsters is also busy during the coming weeks.
Danny Barbir will feature for USA in an U17s international tournament currently being played in South Korea.
Finally, two of our outgoing players are also involved. Youssouf Mulumbu is featuring for DR Congo against Cameroon on June 9, while Jason Davidson and his Socceroos team-mates travel to Bishkek where Australia take on Kyrgyzstan on June 16.
