Albion players return for pre-season tests

30 June 2015

Squad split into two over two days of exercises

A selection of Albion players returned to the Club’s training ground on Tuesday for pre-season testing ahead of the new campaign.

Joleon Lescott, Craig Gardner, Brown Ideye and Craig Dawson led the first batch of Baggies stars who reported for the regular testing exercises, including strength, balance and stretching work, height and weight measurements and running drills.

The remainder of the squad will return to training on Wednesday and go through the same procedures ahead of the gruelling pre-season fitness schedule which awaits.

Albion fly to Austria on Thursday where they will enter a rigorous training camp as well as facing Austrian champions, Red Bull Salzburg, on Wednesday, July 8.

Baggies will return home on Friday, July 10, before they hop back on a plane and travel to the USA for a nine-day tour.

In the US, Tony Pulis’ side will face Orlando City on Wednesday, July 15, Charleston Battery on Friday, July 17 and Richmond Kickers on Sunday, July 19.

The final leg of Albion's pre-season will see them take on Walsall at the Banks's Stadium on Tuesday, July 28. On the same night, an Albion XI will face Forest Green Rovers at The New Lawn.

The Throstles will complete their preparations for the new campaign with a game against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium on Friday, July 31. This particular fixture will be a testimonial for Rovers' physio and ex-player Phil Kite.
