Albion director pays tribute to 'uncanny' contribution
SOMETIMES you only notice someone when they're not there...and that's certainly the case when it comes to Claudio Yacob.
Albion's very own No.5 signed a new two year deal yesterday.
Good news for all, not least Richard Garlick, Albion's Director of Football Administration, who has been checking out Yacob's stats.
Yacob missed 22 games last season. Albion took 21 points during that period. Or, if you prefer figures, just 0.95 points per game.
When Yacob did pull on an Albion shirt from the start, the Baggies collected 23 points, from 16 games. Just under 1.5 points per match.
Garlick said: "Everybody saw Claudio's contribution to the team, particularly over the second half of last season.
"Our points ratio when Claudio was in the team compared to when he was not in the team was uncanny.
"He knows the Premier League and he knows that position. He's probably one of the best in that role in the division.
"Tony Pulis trusts him in that position and everyone at the club is delighted he has extended his contract."
