U18s prepare for new campaign

17 July 2015

Albion cross north-south divide

ALBION have crossed the north-south divide - literally - for the 2015/16 Barclays U18 Premier League season.

The youngsters will compete in the northern division this season, having been a southern division side last term.

Bolton Wanderers have dropped out of the League this season, with their place going to Swansea City.

That means instead of visiting London and the south, Albion will be heading up the M6 and to the North East.

And U18 Lead Professional Development Phase Coach Aaron Danks believes that can only benefit Albion's players, who begin the campaign with a home fixture against Manchester United.

"It's good for us to have this variety," said Danks.

"Last season we played Arsenal, Spurs, Southampton...this season we'll be travelling to Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle.

"That will also mean an overnight stay for some of our players which, again, is a new experience for many of them.

"The lads are in good shape and we're looking forward to the new season."
