Tie to be played over weekend of February 14
TONY Pulis has urged Albion fans to pack The Hawthorns and raise the roof having been drawn at home to West Ham in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The Baggies, who were backed by a sell-out 5,500-strong away support for Saturday's 2-1 victory over Birmingham at St Andrew’s, were paired with the Hammers for a place in the quarter-finals of the prestigious cup competition.
Pulis was granted his wish of a home tie but acknowledges the Hammers, who are currently just three points off the European places in the Barclays Premier League, will provide more than a stern test.
“First and foremost, I’m delighted it’s a home tie and that’s all you can ask for. I made that clear on Saturday after the game against Birmingham,” he said.
“But it’s a formidable challenge, West Ham are enjoying an impressive season and it’s one of the most difficult ties we could have been given.
“Many people will have them as favourites to progress into the next round.
“It’s no doubt we face a really tough game.
“I urge our fans to pack The Hawthorns in the same way they filled the away end at Birmingham.
“Our support was magnificent and we will need them all again for this tie.
“West Ham will likely sell out their allocation and so we need a capacity Hawthorns creating a real cup-tie atmosphere to really get behind us.”
