Davidson fires Socceroos into final

27 January 2015

Australia face South Korea in Saturday's final (9am ko GMT)

JASON Davidson today helped fire Australia into the 2015 AFC Asian Cup final in Sydney.

The Albion left-back picked the perfect timing to find the net for the first time for the Socceroos, scoring their second goal in a 2-0 semi-final victory over the United Arab Emirates.

Davidson will now look to help Australia go all the way in the tournament, which is being held in his native homeland, as the hosts tackle South Korea in Saturday’s showpiece final (9am ko GMT).

Australia will be bidding to make amends for their extra-time final defeat to Japan in Qatar four years ago as they look to become Asian Cup champions for the first time.

Davidson was an unused substitute for two of his nation’s three group games, although the 23-year-old has gone on to add to his 90 minutes against Oman in the group stages with further starts against China and UAE in the knockout stages.
