THE Albion Foundation have teamed up with mobile phone retailer, Mobile Phones Direct, to offer anyone who donates to the Tri-Albion Challenge the chance to win an iPhone 6 plus, worth £599.
The Tri-Albion Challenge was launched after the successful ‘Walk The Albion Way’ charity event in 2014 raised over £16,000, and features three different challenge events to help raise funds for The Albion Foundation.
The first challenge will see 30 eager cyclists, including club legend Brendon Batson, blind Paralympic footballer Darren Harris and The Albion Foundation Ambassador, ‘Blind Dave Heeley’, travelling from St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton to The Hawthorns.
After this, a team of blind footballers will visit every school in Sandwell (120 schools) within five days, in a bid to raise the profile of disability sport and the work of the Foundation.
‘Blind Dave Heeley’ will then be the first blind man to run the Marathon De Sables – 150+ miles across the Sahara Desert carrying all supplies over 6 days.
Rob Lake, Director of The Albion Foundation said: “This is a huge year for the Foundation, our disability programme is getting bigger and better reaching more people playing sports such as blind football and powerchair football.
“The more people we reach the higher the cost, with a powerchair costing around £4000.
“However, with the support and generosity from Mobile Phones Direct, fans can get something in return when they donate to the Foundation.
“We are grateful to the club and to Mobile Phones Direct for arranging this.”
Simon Weedon, Online Marketing Manager at Mobile Phones Direct, said: “As keen fans of football and with a few strong supporters of Albion in the team, we are keen to work closely with the club to raise money for the Foundation for years to come.
“Simply donating to this fantastic challenge will ensure entry into a raffle to win the iPhone 6 plus.
“We are hopeful that the potential to win the highly-sought after iPhone, which will be presented to the winner on a matchday, will be a great incentive to donate as part of the challenge.”
*Please ensure that you leave your email address when donating so that we can contact the winner. The competition will close on 13/04/2015 and the winner will be announced during the Liverpool fixture on 25/04/2015. For full terms and conditions, please visit www.thealbionfoundation.co.uk.
