Andre Wright and Kyle Edwards on target
ALBION Under-18s produced and eye-catching display as they defeated Arsenal 2-1 at home in the Barclays U18 Premier League, thanks to goals from Andre Wright and Kyle Edwards.
The visitors took the lead in the fifth minute through Savvas Mourgos’ 25-yard strike.
But it wasn’t long before the Baggies were back on level terms, Andre Wright sliding in to stab the ball into the back of the net from close-range in the 19th minute, after his initial header was saved by Gunners’ ‘keeper Hugo Keto.
And Aaron Danks’ men then took the lead 11 minutes later, when Kyle Edwards headed home Josh Ezewele’s right-wing cross.
In the second-half, Tahvon Campbell saw his penalty fly wide and there was a late scare when the away side hit the crossbar, but Albion hung on to claim a valuable three points.
It was a result which pleased Under-18 boss Aaron Danks.
“It is great to get the win, but we didn’t play as well as we have been recently,” said Danks.
“I was pleased with the way the boys responded to going behind and the determination they showed to try and get the three points.
“We could have made it a bit more comfortable in the second-half if we had been more clinical in front of goal.
“Ethan Ross made some vital saves for us, and Kyle Edwards who has been performing excellently in training did really well too.”
