Baggies aiming to reach semi-final of Birmingham Senior Cup
JONAS Olsson will step up his match fitness in an Albion Under-21 team boasting four senior internationals tonight.
The Baggies head to Vanarama Conference North outfit Hednesford Town for a Birmingham Senior Cup quarter-final (7.45pm ko).
And the long-serving defender is joined by Cristian Gamboa, Sebastien Pocognoli and Jason Davidson as likely starters.
The quartet will be joining a group which, despite losing several key players to loan deals during the season, can still boast an eight game unbeaten run at league level.
Under-21 Coach James Shan expects his side to face a totally different kind of test to what they normally come up against in the Barclays U21 Premier League.
“It will definitely be different kind of game that we are used to in the league,” said Shan.
“A lot of the matches in the Barclays U21 Premier League are very similar, and several teams try and play the same way using the same formation.
“It will be a really good challenge for the boys, as it is a test of their resilience and their character coming up against men.
“A lot of their players will have been apprentices at football clubs and some will even have football league experience.
“I am really looking forward to the game, and seeing how my players deal with the test.”
Tickets are available on the gate for £8, £6 and £2.
