Under-18s claim bragging rights with Wolves win

21 December 2015

Barbir, Roberts & Leko all on scoresheet

ALBION’S Under-18 side claimed a superb 3-2 victory over rivals Wolves in their final game of 2015 on Saturday morning.

The Baggies were 1-0 down at the break after the visitors converted a penalty, but Danny Barbir scooped home Rahis Nabi’s free-kick from close range shortly after the restart to bring the scores level.

Tyler Roberts then collected a sublime chipped pass from Kyle Edwards before dinking the ball past the ‘keeper to put his side into the lead.

England Under-17 international Jonathan Leko made it three with a brilliant individual strike, out-sprinting the Wolves defender before cutting in from the left and firing the ball into the back of the net.

Callum Pritchatt, returning to the team after a nine-month injury lay-off, unfortunately scored an own goal near the end however Albion held on to claim all three points.

The defender took the setback in good spirit, tweeting “Good to make my first appearance today in 9 months since the injury and get on the scoresheet with an own goal,” following the game.

ALBION: Hall, Wilson, Barbir, O’Shea, Melbourne (Pritchatt 77), R.Nabi, Sweeney, Elbouzedi (Scrivens 61), Edwards, Leko, Roberts (Forss 73).
