Senior players praised following victory
UNDER-21s boss James Shan praised the character of Albion's senior trio following last night's win over Swansea City.
Saido Berahino and Callum McManaman were both on target for Albion’s Under-21 side defeated Swansea 3-0 at Tamworth, while Serge Gnabry played for 50 minutes.
Berahino played the entire game, with McManaman being substituted two minutes from the end.
Shan was pleased with their contribution.
"They approached the game in the right manner," he said.
"They wanted to play. At some clubs you might get players who are told to play but I've not had that. They've come down and improved the performance and shown the right mentality."
Regarding the overall display - with Tahvon Campbell opening the scoring - Shan added: "After last week, we needed a good performance.
"We lost momentum in the second half and stopped doing what we did well in the first half.
"We became too expansive and lost our shape. For a 10-15 minute spell they had a chance to get back in the game and obviously momentum is a difficult beast to handle. Had they scored then who knows...but we got the two goals (via Berahino and McManaman).
"We should have been more clinical in the first half."
