Super Albion held in Hawthorns thriller

* Early Alli strike (15) puts Spurs in front
* McClean's superb team goal (39) levels
* Incredible Lloris save denies Olsson winner
* Attendance: 23,602
* Albion Star Man: Salomon Rondon
ALBION fought out a pulsating 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur to continue the gathering momentum of their Barclays Premier League progress.

After falling behind to a 15th-minute Dele Alli goal, the Baggies were level before the break as James McClean finished off the team goal of the season.

Neither side could find a winner in a second half which had the The Hawthorns gripped and the Baggies fans roaring their team to an impressive point against one of the form teams of the division.

But Spurs – having lost just once this season – would have been just as grateful for the final whistle which signalled the end of an enthralling contest.

Albion restricted Spurs to a minimum of opportunities but let their guard down when a long ball from Toby Alderweireld drew indecision at the back enabling Alli to steal through and score on the volley.

But Albion’s response was terrific and they built up a head of steam which was climaxed by a memorable 39th-minute equaliser – an extended sequence of possession which finished with Stephane Sessegnon playing in Darren Fletcher for a glorious clipped cross McClean headed home.

It was McClean's first goal for the Baggies and reward for his superb form over the first half of this campaign.

After that Albion were every bit the measure of the visitors, with Hugo Lloris pulling off scarcely believable save to deny Jonas Olsson from the Baggies' best chance.

But with Salomon Rondon in rampaging form and a series of stand-out performances by his team-mates, Albion are entering the festive season in good heart and growing confidence.
