Youngsters host West Ham on Monday afternoon

UNDER-21 boss James Shan has challenged his players to go on another lengthy unbeaten run, ahead of the visit of West Ham on Monday afternoon (ko 3pm).

The youngsters enjoyed a number of undefeated spells last season, including a nine-game sequence during the middle part of the year.

The Baggies ended the previous campaign unbeaten in five matches, before winning their opening game of 2015/16 with a 2-1 win at Swansea on Monday night.

Shan says learning how to win games of football is crucial for the young players’ development.

He said: “Winning is a part of players’ journey and development process.

“It’s vitally important that they learn how to win games and also manage games.

“We had some great unbeaten runs last season.

“It would be great to go on similar runs this year.

The Hammers provide Albion with their first home test, with the encounter now to be played at the Club’s training ground instead of The Lamb, home of Tamworth FC.

Shan is expecting a difficult test against an eye-catching West Ham outfit.

“West Ham look like a very good team with some really exciting individuals.

“Having seen how hard they work, I am really looking forward to the challenge.”
