Baggies have won all three games this season
ALBION Under-21 boss James Shan is delighted to see his side sitting proudly at the summit of the Barclays U21 Premier League division two table.
The youngsters can boast a 100% record in their opening three games of the new campaign, having enjoyed victories over Swansea, West Ham and most recently, Monday night’s 1-0 success over Blackburn Rovers.
The win over Rovers extended the Baggies’ unbeaten run to eight league games, with their last defeat coming at the end of March last season.
Shan had called for improved performances despite the positive results before facing Blackburn, and his demands were answered at The Lamb.
He said: “We won our first two games but we weren’t entirely happy with our performance in either of those games.
“We answered a few of the question we had about ourselves against Blackburn, including game management and our style of play.
“We played very well and very bravely on a difficult pitch so I was delighted.
“It’s great to be sitting top of the league at this early stage, our challenge now is to stay there.”
Shan added: “It’s a great unbeaten run that we are on, and one that goes back to the last five games of last season.
“We put this group together just before the run started and they went the last five games unbeaten.
“The group have carried that into the new season and we have made a very positive start.
“They’ve got that winning habit at the moment and it is a fantastic trait and mentality to have.
“The players seem to know how to control and win games at the moment so it is very positive.”
