Albion audio, now wired for sound
A NEW season approaches, and with it comes some fresh content for the Albion website with a revamped Albion Radio service that covers not only exclusive live kick by kick commentary on every Baggies game, but a host of audio programming throughout the week for your aural delectation. No sniggering at the back.
“Why are we doing such a thing?” I hear you ask. Well, over the years, we’ve produced plenty of written content both in the Albion News and online, and there’s video output aplenty too, but with all of those things, we are asking you to put down your life, stop the world and pay attention to us and only us for the duration.
All of that is fine and dandy. We all need an excuse to step away from the outside world and into a blue and white universe from time to time, immersing ourselves in the present and the past, the folklore, the tradition and the history that we are making anew every day.
Equally though, such are the demands of the modern world that we can’t always put everything else to one side just to take in the Albion news. So, with this new service, just like listening to the normal radio – and why would you do that now with an Albion alternative? - you can get on with your regular routine such as washing the car, cooking your dinner, cutting the grass or polishing the cat, and yet still consume your daily intake of Throstle infused calories.
We’re not interrupting you, we’re giving you the Albion on the go. There’s going to be plenty of it too, so let’s take a look at the Albion Radio Times.
Assuming that we’ve got a Saturday fixture – yes, I know - the countdown will begin on a Friday with our pre-match programme that will include interviews from the heart of the camp with both players and coaching staff, to set you up for the game. We’ve a few other ideas for the pre-match fare that will increasingly come on stream as the season goes on, but we’ll be putting out little acorns first off before the mighty oak grows in time.
On Saturday, you’ll be able to tune into your usual commentary fix from up and down the country, including a lengthy pre-match analysis of what lies ahead, followed by the kick by kick action from our in house, Baggies biased team.
As you’re recovering from it all on a Sunday morning, we’ll be bringing you our post-match round-up. That will include interviews straight from the dressing room, a look back at the day’s action with Tony Brown and all the commentary highlights packaged up in one little measure. Marvellous.
You get Monday off for good behaviour before we’re back into it with an interview show on Tuesdays. We’re planning an eclectic mix here, covering players past and present, some behind the scenes interviews and a chat with a supporter or two along the way too.
Wednesdays is a day when we are going to mix it up a little bit once we really get cracking, with some one off features, documentaries and, quite possibly, a quiz competition or two. Today, we kick things off when middleweight boxing champion and Albion fan Tommy Langford talks to us about his love of two very different sports.
And then on a Thursday, we’ll be bringing you the Albion youth round up featuring interviews with the men that matter when it comes to creating the next generation of stars in stripes.
Albion Radio: it’s what your ears have been waiting for.
