Pocognoli: I won’t change my style

Defender discusses his tough approach

SEBASTIEN Pocognoli has vowed to continue to play with the passion and enthusiasm that has made him an early fans’ favourite.

The summer signing has endeared himself to supporters after some fearsome displays in the opening games of the season.

The 27-year-old insists he will not rest on his laurels and is happy that The Hawthorns faithful admire his playing style.

“I think that the West Brom fans like the way that I play,” said Pocognoli.

“When I am fit and my body is ready for the game I will always play the same way.

“I don’t care which team I am defending against, I will always play with passion and I will always give 100 per cent.

“I think that all the West Brom fans will like that.

Pocognoli could come up against some familiar faces at Tottenham team on Sunday.

Belgium team-mates Nacer Chadli, Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen have all featured heavily for Spurs so far in the Barclays Premier League and Pocognoli is hoping to put one over his fellow countrymen.

“It will be nice to play against my Belgium team-mates Nacer, Mousa and Jan.

“Last week against Everton Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku played.

“There was a little bit of texting before the Everton game and I think it will be the same before the Tottenham match.

“It will be great to play against them but I want to prove that I am the best and I want to win the dual.

“We are all very good friends but there is a little bit of competition and that is important.”
