SCA Powerchair teams finish season on a high

Sporting Club Albion and SCA Throstles enjoy success

Sporting Club Albion’s Powerchair football teams finished their respective WFA National Premiership seasons on a high at the weekend.

The 'A' team managed to secure third place in the league yet again and this year achieved their highest-ever points tally, while also securing a maiden league victory over five-time champions Aspire PFC.

Not only have the team enjoyed a good season nationally but they have had an outstanding campaign regionally - again wrapping up the league title in the East Midlands Powerchair Football League (EMPFL).

The Champions League experience they picked up last summer has most certainly improved their overall game as they look to break into the top two of the National League next season.

Four of the six players in the team have been selected to train with England in their last training camp before the squad is announced for the EPFA Nations Cup in July.

All four players are hoping to show their worth and look to put on their England shirts in Ireland. We wish all the guys the best of luck and will be behind them 100% of the way.

The SCA Throstles team, who also play in the National Premiership, finished sixth in the table - their highest-ever league finish and a major improvement on last season’s ninth place.

A huge positive for the team this year have been the achievements of Amy Wharton as she used her large amount of experience to pick up the golden boot in the EMPFL for the first time in her career.

The team has come a long way this season in their development as they added Amy to the squad, Craig Wilkinson became the new captain and young brothers Aaron and Jack Ebanks enjoyed their first full season in the National League.

Here at TAF we run a whole host of development sessions for Powerchair football and are always looking to recruit new players whatever their age, ability or gender.
