Vydra stays on goal trail

And Brunt breaks record as McAuley sees red

MATEJ Vydra warmed up for Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash with Manchester United (ko 12.45pm) by scoring the Czech Republic's second goal in their 2-2 friendly draw with Norway tonight.

The Baggies loan star also got 90 minutes under his belt as he notched his third international goal in nine appearances in the Prague encounter.

And, after stepping off the bench to rescue a precious point for Albion with a last-gasp equaliser against Fulham last time out at The Hawthorns, he is now challenging for a start against United.

In other friendly action, Baggies skipper Chris Brunt became the club's all-time record international caps holder outright on 36 after playing all of Northern Ireland's goalless draw with Cyprus.

But in the same game in Nicosia Hawthorns team-mate Gareth McAuley suffered a miserable night as he was harshly sent-off in the 75th minute for a challenge on Dimitris Christifi.

Ben Foster was an unused substitute for England as they beat Denmark 1-0 at Wembley, as was Boaz Myhill in Wales’ 3-1 victory over Iceland in Cardiff.

James Morrison was substituted at half-time in Scotland’s 1-0 win over Poland in Warsaw, while Diego Lugano played 31 minutes in Uruguay’s 1-1 draw with Austria.

Goran Popov got 90 minutes under his belt for Macedonia in their 2-1 win over Latvia in Skopje.

Saido Berahino played 67 minutes in England Under-21s’ 1-0 win over Wales in their European Championship Group One qualifier at Derby’s Pride Park.
