Amalfitano happy to cash in

Winger reflects on recent goalscoring exploits (FREE VIDEO)

MORGAN Amalfitano is relieved his second goal in as many games this time counted for all three points.

The Baggies winger followed up his wonder-strike opener in the 3-3 draw at home to Cardiff with the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Norwich.

And he is delighted the win lifted his team five points clear of the drop zone and to within five points of 11th place, with six games remaining.

“It was a very important goal but the most important thing was it helped the team be a bit calmer,” said Amalfitano.

“I think it could have been even better and we could have gone on to score a second goal.

“It was very important we won the game to remain with the rest of the pack and it bodes well for the future.

“It’s a shame we drew the week before because it’s a game we really should have won.

“We made sure we kept our heads up and worked hard.

“It really is up to us to start the game very well.

“Recently when we’ve scored first we’re very confident.

“It is an important period and we must not gift the other team anything - and it is very important the supporters are with us."
