Nottingham Ladies 3 Albion Ladies 3

Baggies remain undefeated

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies drew 3-3 at Nottingham Forest in the FA Women’s Premier League (Northern Division) on Sunday.

The home side took an early lead but the Baggies levelled through Jemma Connor-Iommi on 26 minutes.

The hosts were ahead again less than 60 seconds later and went into the interval with the score at 2-1.

Jamie-Leigh Fowler (pictured) fired a second-half brace to give the Baggies hope of a victory – but Forest equalised with 22 minutes remaining to claim a point.

And manager Dave Lawrence is pleased his side remain undefeated this season.

“We struggled in the first half and I didn’t think we competed well enough and they deserved their half-time lead,” said Lawrence.

“After a few strong words at half-time, we were much better.

“We bossed the game from that point and there were a couple of great goals from Jamie-Leigh Fowler.

“It’s a hard-earned point and we now have two good points from two top quality sides.”

The Baggies host Wolves at The Grove, Halesowen, on Sunday (ko 2pm) and Lawrence insists he understands the important of the season’s first local derby.

“Both teams have had a lot of changes since last season,” added Lawrence.

“Wolves have changed manager and we know they’ll be seeking revenge after we did so well against them last season.

“I’m confident our quality will shine through and we will take the points.”
