And keeper praises Long and Sessegnon
BOAZ Myhill says he is ‘bitterly disappointed’ Albion did not leave West London with all three points on Saturday.
The Baggies were seconds away from recording their first league victory at Stamford Bridge in 35 years when referee Andre Marriner awarded the hosts a stoppage-time penalty.
And the Wales international keeper insists conceding a spot-kick so late in the game is a bitter pill to swallow.
“I feel distraught that we haven’t won that game, especially with the way it happened," said Myhill.
“I would have been more than happy if they’d done something spectacular or if they'd broken us down.
“We did everything we needed to do to win and that’s what makes it more difficult to take.
“As a team we’re bitterly disappointed to have not won the game.
"But we have to take it on the chin and move on.
“I thought we gave a very good account of ourselves.
“Maybe in a week’s time we will see it as a good point, but at the moment I feel very disappointed."
But the Baggies stopper did manage to see past his disappointment to praise the contribution of Albion's goalscorers against the Blues - Shane Long and Stephane Sessegnon.
“I’m delighted for Shane because he’s had a little bit of an emotional rollercoaster after the last transfer window," added Myhill.
“He’s got his head down and worked really hard and people get what they deserve in life.
"Sessegnon has been fairly predictable since he’s been here – you give him the ball and he does good things with it.
“It’s a great signing for the club, so fair play to the head coach and Richard [Garlick] because they’ve got together and got a great player in the building.”
